As another Valentines Day quickly approaches, I’ve been hearing a lot about finding the perfect gift, making the nicest reservation, and buying the cutest outfit. And as this determination for planning the perfect Valentines Day fills the air, I find myself wanting to help. So, what better way than to take the stress of Valentine’s Day away, by finding your valentine for you. And I did! I found the perfect match to be your valentine!
It’s you, you are your forever valentine 💗
Being Your Own Valentine
If you’re thinking, “come on, who chooses themselves to be their own valentine?”, you’re asking the right question. The truth is, not enough of us. While self-care and mental health awareness has grown a lot in recent years, it seems that putting ourselves first hasn’t. If there was a time of the year to be concentrating on personal wants and needs, it would be now. Valentine’s Day to me is about prioritizing the people we love. I think it’s possible to put ourselves first, while also showing love and appreciation for others.

A few things I’m trying this Valentines Day:
1. Buy myself flowers (maybe a philodendron)
Doing something nice for yourself can be as big or small as you want it to be. Having a vase full of flowers on my coffee table to enjoy always brightens my mood. Especially with the snow and cold outside. So whatever helps brighten your day, whether a long bath or your favorite chocolate, you deserve it. Getting myself flowers is as easy as getting myself take-out, and it definitely makes me feel loved.
2. Start watching Euphoria
I honestly cant believe I haven’t started this show yet with all of the positive reviews I’ve heard from family and friends. Starting a show or watching your favorite movie is an act of self love that you can enjoy by yourself or with the people you love. I can’t wait to spend my down time next week relaxing on the couch and finally catching up on all the hype.
3. Start a new art project
I might be the most excited about this Valentine’s Day gift to myself because I’ve been wanting to tackle this project for a while. Catching up, and doing that one thing you’ve been meaning to do, is prioritizing your wants and needs. I also know that getting started on my new art will give me time later to practice more self love or show love and appreciation to someone else. It’s a true win win.
